Dear Professor Chaudhuri,

It is my greatest pleasure to inform you that the General Assembly of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences(IUAES) met on August 9th 2013, during its seventeenth World Congress in Manchester and agreed to confer on you the title of Honorary Member of the IUAES. The news has been announced on the front page of our website (http://www.iuaes.org). As Secretary-General on behalf of the Executive Committee of the IUAES, I send my heartfelt congratulations.

According to the IUAES Statutes, Honorary Members are “professional anthropologists and/or ethnologists who have made outstanding contributions to scholarship in ways that

have widely disseminated

the insights and perspectives of anthropology/ethnology and

thereby contributed to that aspect of the Union’s aims and objectives.” Your contributions

to scholarship are truly outstanding and members of the IUAES Executive Committee are all

very pleased to be able to recognize what you havedone for the

advancement of our
