  • Attended X ICAES (International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences) in 1978 in Delhi and contributed a paper.
  • Attended XI ICAES (International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences) in 1983 in Canada and contributed a paper.
  • Attended XII ICAES (International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences) in 1988 in Zagreb, organized two sessions and contributed papers.
  • Attended and contributed a paper on “Indian Agrarian Situation and Development” in the International Seminar –Agrarian Management Policy in Asia, held in Hanoi, Vietnam, October, 1990 (also edited the volume published by ACFOD, Bangkok).
  • Attended a workshop on Indigenous People: Strategy and Approach organised on the occasion of International Decade of Indigenous People, in Philippines, 1993 (also edited a volume- Indigenous People: Struggle for Survival published by ACFOD, Bangkok.).

  • Attended and delivered a lecture in Fourth SAARC Peoples’ Forum held at Tangail, Bangladesh and it was organised by South Asia Network for Food, Ecology and Culture (SANFEC) and Resistance Network against Trafficking in Women and Children on 28-30 September, 2005.

  • Attended a Planning workshop on Strategy for Rural Development in Bangkok organized by Asian Resource Foundation. June, 2007.
  • Attended a seminar on “Mainstreaming Human Security: The Asian Contribution” and delivered a lecture on “Human Security, Indigenous People and Development” at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand during 4-5 October, 2007.
  • Prof. Chaudhuri Chaired the first academic session in the UGC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Social Exclusion and Needed Action’ organized by The Centre for Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy and Calcutta University during 24-26 March, 2008.

  • Presided over the lecture delivered by Professor Sajal Basu on the occasion of Annual Professor Kalyan Kumar Dasgupta Memorial Lecture on the “Roots of Jharkhand Movement” at the Institute of Historical Studies on 24.05.2008.
  • Delivered a lecture on “Qualitative Research in Social Science with Particular Reference to Anthropology and Human Rights” during 14-15 January, 2009 at the Centre for Himalayan Studies, NBU.
  • Presided over a session on Globalisation and Human Rights at “Samaj Bigyan Mahasammelan-2009 held at Barrackpore Rastra Guru Surendranath College during 13-15, February, 2009. Also delivered a lecture on ‘Globalisation and Human Rights’.
  • Attended an International seminar held at India International Centre, New Delhi during 27-29 August, 2009 on “Adivasi/ST Communities in India: Development and Change” and presented a paper on ‘Traditional Knowledge related to Health: Opportunities and Challenges” . The seminar was organized by Institute for Human Development (IHD) and supported by Planning Commission, Government of India, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and UNICEF.

  • Organised and chaired seminars on Health and on Forest in the World Anthropological Congress in Yugoslavia (1988) and in Mexico(1993). Organised and chaired two sessions in the World Anthropological Congress (1998) in USA, Florence, Italy,2003, and in China, July, 2009.
  • Organised a seminar on Health and one on environment with the help of ACFOD in Thailand in 1995 (January and May).
  • Organised a national Seminar on Disadvantaged People at Tribal Research Centre, Ooty, 1999
  • Organised a Seminar on Religion, Communalism and Human Rights, at the Department of Anthropology, University of Calcutta in 2000 sponsored by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Govt. of India
  • Organised a seminar on Indigenous People in Eastern India and Bangladesh jointly with RDC, Bangladesh. The 1st Phase was held in Calcutta (Kolkata) and the next Phase in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2002. The problems of the tribes common in the two countries were specifically examined. Field visits were also organised in the two countries.
  • Organised a National Seminar on Disadvantaged People of Eastern and North Eastern India: Emerging Issues jointly with the Deptt. of Anthropology, University of North Bengal in 2003.
  • Organised a seminar on Peoples of North Bengal jointly with the Deptt. of Anthropology, University of North Bengal in 2004
  • Organised the 1st IUAES Inter Congress in Calcutta during 12-15 December,2004 and the theme was Mega Urbanization, Multi-ethnic Society, Human Rights and Development. It was sponsored by UNESCO, Paris, Wenner Gren Foundation of Anthropological Studies, ICSSR, UGC, Anthropological Survey of India, Population Foundation of India, Govt. of West Bengal, etc. It was organised by the Calcutta University in collaboration with Indian Museum and Anthropological Survey of India.
  • Organised an UGC sponsored Workshop on Human Rights, Peace and Conflict Resolution during 20-26 March, 2007.
  • Delivered a lecture on “Forest and People-Access and Command over Natural Resources: Emerging Challenges” in a seminar on “Asserting Identity and Indigenes of Jharkhand: 1857-2006” held at TRTC, Chaibasa. It was jointly organised by Dr. Ambedkar Chair in Anthropology, Calcutta University and Indigenous Research Forum Chaibasa (IRFC). Also delivered valedictory address at the concluding session. The seminar was held during 6 - 7 October, 2007.
  • Organised a National Seminar on “Strategy For Tribal Development with special reference to Primitive Tribal Groups” held at Tribal Research Centre (TRC), Ooty, Tamil Nadu during 3-4th November, 2007. Introduced the seminar theme to the participants and released a book on “Tribes & Inter-Ethnic Relationship in the Nilgiri District, Tamil Nadu : A Study from a Cultural anthropological Perspective”. The seminar was jointly organised by Dr. Ambedkar Chair in Anthropology, Calcutta University and Tribal Research Centre (TRC), Ooty.
  • Organised UGC Workshop on ‘Peace, Human Rights, Conflict Resolution and Sustainable Development in Multi-Ethnic Asia’ organized by Dr. Ambedkar Chair in Anthropology during 26-28, February, 2008. There were participants from India, Bangladesh, Thailand and U.S.A. Field visit was also organized.
  • Organised a workshop on Indigenous People, Dalits, Minorities and Human Rights in Calcutta in December, 2008 sponsored by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation. There were participants from India, Bangladesh, Nepal and U.S.A.
  • Organised UGC workshop on Human Rights: Emerging Issues and Challenges, in Calcutta in March, 2009. There were around 50 participants from different parts of South Asia.
  • Organised five Sessions in the 16th World Anthropological Congress held in July, 2009 in Kunming, China.
  • Organised an International Conference on Mega Urbanization & Human Rights : Emerging Challenges, on 14-16TH FEB 2011 in Kolkata organised by commission of Urban Anthropology & Commission on Human Rights of IUAES and West Bengal State University in collaboration with Anthropological Survey of India & Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Sangrahalaya
